Please do read Verrier Elwin and Ramachandra Guha in detail. Guha is a 
petitioner in the Supreme Court against the Salwa Judum.
Elwin's writings are very informative. He helped to frame the Panchsheel policy 
and he married a tribal lady. He lived in Shillong at the end of his life. One 
of his inspirations was Gandhi.
