Dr Alam,
While caste is said to be based on inborn distinctivness and has been
instituted to prevent abnormal breeding practices like hypogamy and
in-breeding, it's high time we did away with rigid casteist attitudes that
discriminate against human beings on the basis of the caste one is born into.
Caste clashes and discrimination is a drain on human energy and hardens one's
heart.
Similarly, we need to banish diabolical scriptural teachings that clash with
the irrefutable proofs that science is unearthing or which seek to arbitrarily
divide humanity into "believers" and "non-believers" with the latter
("non-believers"), as preached by these unelightened scriptures, being viewed
as objects of hate, derision and persecution. A look at the pitiable status of
religious minorities (the so-called "non-believers") in Islamic theocracies
reveals that this evil teaching of whimsically categorising people as
"believers" and "non-believers" is at the root of violence, injustice,
bloodshed and civilisation clash.
Besides, when backward religious texts preach something as ridiculous as
creation out of nothing by a fictitious, extra-cosmic, anthropomorphic god in
contradiction of verifiable scientific principles such as conservation (that
energy can neither be created nor destroyed), it certainly tends to block the
truth as well as the creative energies of the human race. Such irrational
scriptural teachings should aslo be censured for the good of the human beings
or else we'll forever be wallowing in ignorance while retrograde forces will
succeed in straitjacketing us and the results will be added human misery,
strife, poverty, disease and superstitions.
All these perverse scriptural teachings ought to be banished and replaced by
enlightened humane values that celebrate truth, distinctiveness, unity in
diversity, talent and encourage every form of constructive activity that helps
humanity to realise its full potential.
Best Regards,
Dr A K Isaacs
