The 1.2 production release is planned for March 3, to match the publication date of a pair of tutorials on IBM devWorks which provide an in-depth introduction to the BindGen and CodeGen tools.
I can't answer on the maven plugin issue, since I don't actually work on this myself. The developer who has been handling the maven issues has not responded to recent emails.
