Description:
Cover the transitions the other two miss: clean close → reopen on existing
on-disk state, restore, and standby→active promotion, with transactional stores
under EOS. Assert on recovery mechanics (no
unexpected wipe/corruption, bounded restore, advancing offsets) so lifecycle
bugs fail hard instead of being masked by result-only checks
