Review Comment:
   Looks like `BufferSupplier#close()` is not called in this path. it only 
releases the buffer, not the supplier, which seems fine because it will get 
GC'd once the read returns. But for safety I've wrapped it in a 
try-with-resources, same as maybeLoadLog()
