I posted a change that hopefully fixes the issue and is also mentioned in https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KAFKA-7421 The method lock seems indeed to be there as an oversight. A change in test was also required to make the test classloader capable of parallel loading. Without this registration the test fails. It also fails if the method lock is retained. @gharris1727 please take another look.
