Yes, that is correct. 
For AK 3.0, we could only remove the public config so that the metrics version 
is fixed to {{latest}}. Then, in a second step, we can remove all the code that 
is executed when the metrics version is not latest. The second step is only 
internal, so it does not necessarily be done for AK 3.0.
