First of all, you need to open the right ports in your home router/firewall, read this :
http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/ConnectingRemotely And do not forget to enable password protection on your Squeezeserver ! I use this, and it works most of the time, but you can still come across routers/firewalls which blocks this. For those cases, i use a SSH connection to the server(separate program has to be started first, port 22 needs to be open in your router) and the the latest version of Softsqueeze to playback, Squeezeplay will NOT work over SSH, so don't even waste time by trying :-). All this is a bit fiddley, but hey, what does one not do to access the music collection from anywhere ? -- bebop Regards Bebop SC 7.3.x on Ubuntu 8.02(on old Dell D600 laptop), Duet SBC&SBR + Boom1 + Boom2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ bebop's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17061 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=74651 _______________________________________________ jive mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/jive
