snmpd is what is needed in Linux application to handle SNMP requests
from client/management s/w and it would have to be integrated with the
tcp and IP drivers.

IIRC The Duet receiver does not have any SNMP facilities and firmware
is not open source.  Routers would be the best source of info on
traffic on your lan since all data will go through the router. 
Unfortunately many consumer routers do not have SNMP - to get SNMP
facilities in your router - you can use a 3rd party firmware such as
DDWRT/OpenWRT and install the SNMP package.
