Another guess:
As far as I know JMeter Proxy Server cannot record SSL (https) transactions.
If the application you are testing requires SSL you need to find a way to
turn it off if you want to make recordings with JMeter. If anyone out there
knows otherwise, please correct me. I would love to be wrong about this.

Hi,
I am on LAN only i, i did the same as exactly you said in your
article and the steps that you have in this mail now.

But the requests are not recorded in the TestPlan as you told.

I added Aggregate Report and a Random Timer in the test plan.

I set up proxy server and my application also came through that proxy only.
But requests are not recorded.

Any logs will be created? Any workaround for this?

Thanks,
P.Kannan

No, this is not necessary. Most often the application is running on a
distant web server.

The idea is to let JMeter 'listen' to the HTTP traffic between the browser
and the web server. When it does this it can see both the HTTP requests and
the responses and record them.

So first you must tell your browser to connect to the web server THROUGH
the JMeter proxy. Look in my article how you do this. Be carefull to set
the checkboxes as shown on the LAN Settings picture. If you're not on a LAN
(but on a dial up modem connection) you should set the proxy values in the
dialog box you get when you press the "Settings..." button on "Connections"
tab.

Then start JMeter, define a Proxy Server in the WorkBench (see article),
and press the Start button on the bottom of the JMeter right pane.

Now you may go to your browser and start your browser application. If you
forget to start the JMeter proxy server the browser can not connect to your
web server.

Does this help?

If not then please tell exactly what happens when you try to use the proxy.
Also let me know if you're on a LAN or not.

/Keld

Dear all,
I tried to set up HTTP proxy server option as per the
steps Given in the new article in Java Boutique site.

My application is running in the remote server.
To use this option, is it necessary that both application and JMeter should
be in the same machine?

So far I worked without using this option, after studying this article
only, i came to know that in JMeter also we can record user scenarios.

Can anybody explain it a little eloborate.

Thanks,
Kannan P.
