Ok,
I just discover this with version 1.9 : When recording, I now use the recording
controller. Inside the controller, I add an HTTP request defaults, with the real
values (not user-defined variables). Then my HTTP requests are not recording the
values for the parameters I set in my HTTP Request defaults. On the other hand, the
default HTTP Header Manager doesn't seem to have any effect at this point (for
recording using the proxy).
Can anybody confirm or infirm the above?...

This is not true - if you have no patterns, everything will be recorded. If you
add an include pattern, ONLY those requests that match the pattern will be
recorded.

Sometimes people have trouble because they don't add a ThreadGroup and a
RecordingController before recording. Sometimes people add HTTP Request
Defaults because the docs say it's useful and several versions of JMeter are
broken in this respect (so don't use the defaults, instead, set user-defined
variables in your TestPlan, and JMeter will insert the variables automatically
for you).

And some people expect the recording to work with HTTPS, but this is a very
complex thing that I'm not even sure how to do, so that won't work.
