JMeter can test https, but the proxy can't record it. It's pretty much not possible to write such a proxy. Badboy can record ssl because it works from within IE, and you can export a jmeter script that jmeter can run. Alternatively, you can turn https off during recording and turn it back on when running the script in JMeter.

I used something not too long ago that had a little trick to record https with a proxy. The query from the load tool to the proxy was http, with some special character to tell the proxy that it was supposed to be https.

It seemed (for that part at least) to work pretty well, although most of the rest of it didn't work so well, which might be why I can't remember what it's name was.
