OK, good point! I have JMeter 2.2 on my Linux box and in the bin directory there is a shell script called 'jmeter'. It is not called 'jmeter.sh'. I guess the docs are out of date.
Do you have this? You'll also want a recent version of the Sun java jvm. I tried to get it to work on the gij thing that comes with Ubuntu, but it did not work properly.
