What we do is to use the Constant Throughput element - but use a
property for the throughput (so the throughput is a constant
variable!).

You can then use the BeanShell server to change the property every so often.

You can access the BeanShell server interactively - or give it a
script with built-in pauses.

See "Best Practises" for some details.

Hi All,

We use jmeter to great effect for soak testing at a constant load, volume
testing to breaking point and indeed benchmarking.

Now we're wondering whether or not we should have a varying load test, or
pretty much a soak test, but with some peaks here and there.

So what would be the best way to do that? One easy quick and dirty way
for us would be to run our usual 1hr soak test, and then run other say
15min or 5min tests during that 1hr. However i just wondered if there was
any thoughts on this issue?

Thanks!
Dan
