There is no other documentation on the TCP Sampler, though you may
find some useful information if you search the mailing list archives.
And of course you can look at the source.

There is plenty of information on how to set up a JMeter test plan in
the JMeter documentation.

I suggest you experiment with some simple test plans (e.g. using
HTTP), and (re-)read the documentation.
