Great, this is exactly what I needed.
How do you feel about my earlier comment about how the pass on the 'path' of where the AtomSet should be in a tree hierarchy?
I think I'll try to implement that in the AtomSetChooser and the GaussianReader.
When that goes I'll start working on the other readers (like NWChem and so).

It did exist in the Jmol application world.
I just updated your AtomSetChooser code. It is now a
PropertyChangeListener and receives notification that the file has changed
via a propertyChange event.
Look at the bottom of AtomSetChooser.java
