I'm using 11.3.26, built with ant, and it works flawlessly. I'm
starting Jmol using
build/jmol.sh

Stupid suggestion, but maybe you didn't do an "ant clean" first? I
tend to forget that every now and then, leading to needless
frustration on my side  :)
