I was wondering if Android would support java applets in browsers, but so far 
it does not.  Part of the problem appears to be that the GUI in Android is just 
a kind of JVM, which makes it difficult to launch another JVM inside it.  I 
found a little that suggests it can be done, but nothing very promising.

That said, it looks like java applications can be compiled into the appropriate 
compressed form for Android using an Eclipse plugin.  Has anybody played with 
that?  I recall somebody saying they had been using a Droid phone...Be cool if 
we could have a fully, or nearly fully functional Jmol for Android.
