Hi Bob,

Must have been a message I missed :-). I now get timings for alternately
loading 1 and 2 (I started with 1):
1: 15.7 3.4 3.4 3.3
2: 4.3 0.8 3.2 3.1
I do empty the cache, and reset website data before I quit and restart Safari...

can you use the other ones I sent in a separate message -- shouldn't be using
that applet at all.

The files I'm using are in http://chemapps.stolaf.edu/jmol/docs/examples-12/test

Hi Bob

My safari complained about
http://chemapps.stolaf.edu/jmol/docs/examples-12/JmolApplet not found. The
loading times were 6.5/4.7 and 3.1/1.2 sec respectively (cleaning out the cache
and website data in addition to exiting Safari in between). Sequence of testing
load1, load2, load1 and load2.

PS I think that there is still some caching going on since the very first load
of load1 took 26.9 sec...

OK, that's changed a bit:

1) clear JAVA cache (Windows control panel...Java...temporary internet
files...view...select all...delete
2) close and reopen browser
3) http://chemapps.stolaf.edu/jmol/docs/examples-12/test_load1.htm

reported time: _____ s

1) clear JAVA cache
2) close and reopen browser
3) http://chemapps.stolaf.edu/jmol/docs/examples-12/test_load2.htm

reported time: _____ s

(because I guess the browser also caches the Jar files separately from Java, so
both caches have to be cleared).

Thanks,

Bob

1) clear JAVA cache (Windows control panel...Java...temporary internet

2) http://chemapps.stolaf.edu/jmol/docs/examples-12/simple1.htm

Any difference there?

People with particularly slow internet connections especially useful here.

Thanks,
