Hey everyone,
I solved the Paste mystery on the Mac!
Jmol requires one to type CONTROL-V for paste, even on a Mac.
On a Mac, the usual shortcut is COMMAND-V. (The COMMAND key is
also known as the Apple key.) The CONTROL key has been so rarely
used for anything on the Mac that it didn't even occur to me to try it
before now.
[Relevant information about coding shortcut keystrokes in Java
for Mac applications is found here.]
So now I can copy a hyperlink to a MOL or PDB file from a Web
page and paste it directly into Jmol. A huge improvement over
downloading the file and opening it with Jmol, to be sure. I
would still like to see even more seamless integration between the
browser and Jmol (i.e., a plug-in), but that can wait for another day.
Perhaps this insight about Paste on the Mac should be included
somewhere in the Jmol documentation?
