To the best of my knowledge, the selection highlighting never gets
'hidden' because of 'zoom'.
Please send screen shot that shows undesirable behavior.

$ cpk off
$ restrict [LYS]54
$ center selected
$ set display selected
# write GIF 1.gif
$ zoom 600
# write GIF 2.gif
# zooming hides highlighting
$ zoom 100
$ wireframe 180
# write GIF 3.gif
# rendering hides highlighting
