A simple color change (fairly intuitive, I hope) to an atom in the default methane molecule of object 01, followed by a show object 02 back to object 01 will demonstrate the Opera problem. In Opera, I also lose all DOM control
of the objects after a simple operation like this - not so in MSIE or
Firefox.
sure enough, Otis, Opera totally unloads the applet when you do applet.style.visibility="hidden" and reloads it
from scratch when you do .visibility="visible".

As convenient as it is to make the visible or invisible, you are going to have to use another tactic. Move the object left= -1000 or something like that instead of hiding it.

how about changing the z-index instead of the visibility? I assume the applets overlap each other, so this might work.

just a thought.
