OK, I get it. Right. The original problem (that I fixed), as I recall, was
hbonds ON
restrict NONE
#hbonds still shown, floating in space
The problem you are seeing:
restrict protein
#hbonds appear
That was introduced independently this week.

The passage you quote from me refers to the preceding paragraph in my post:
Issuing a restrict command causes hbonds to appear. For example
'restrict protein'
turns on h-bonds, as does
'restrict not water'
That is "why" restrict would turn on hbonds... it is a bug... The
passage you quoted was an additional bit of data, stating that IF hbonds
were first explicitly turned off, THEN the restrict did not turn them on.
