I used a fairly large one, 1k8a, with about 99000 atoms
("http://www.fli-leibniz.de/cgi-bin/3d_mapping.pl?CODE=1k8a&JMOLVERSION=10.9.86";).

You can zoom now to any level of detail you like, even in such a large
structure. It's fantastic!

At moderate zoom levels of about 20000 (compared to the full 200000) I
could still work quite well while displaying the whole structure as
cartoon. And for this example it doesn't make sense to go much higher.
But when I zoomed in to the maximum, displaying only a few amino acids,
and then switched on all atoms it took more than a minute to get the
result. And to get the result of the 'show orientation' command (moveto
1.0 { -148 359 922 150.1} 200000.0 {16.728 98.593994 166.32} 210.4;)
took about 2 minutes.
So I would recommend to display only the part you are interested in
before you zoom in, in order to be able to work fluently at really high
zoom levels in large structures.

Like Frieda I also don't like the change of zoom when picking a new
center. It was totally unpredictable for me, if there would be a very
large or very small change in zoom and if it would zoom in or out.

Rolf
