Aha - I see now that you mean rotation with the mouse, not using the
"spin" command.
I can confirm your observation - the difference is quite obvious in
Firefox, where the hesitations in responding to rotation with the
mouse are pronounced in the Jmol 11 applet. In Safari, both applets
are fully responsive to the mouse without hesitations or "jerkyness".
(One thing on your test page is strange - the applets, one or both,
occasionally disappear when I access the Jmol menu.)

Frieda,
I'm also using OS X v 10.4.8. I've tried both Firefox 1.5 and
2.0 and
found the same behavior. I guess "jerky" is ambiguous, but with small
molecules Jmol has always been very responsive for me. I've set up a
test page with two side-by-side instances of Jmol with the same
molecule.

Thanks
Hi Dean,
I am on OS x v 10.4.8, and I find the rotation in Firefox pretty
jerky even in older Jmol versions, for example 10.00.46. However,
it
is not particularly smooth in Safari either.
Do you have a URL for a page with 10.9.66? I would be glad to test
it
and get back to you.

Dear All,
I just jumped versions of the applet (10.9.66 to 11.0 RC3) and the
rotation of even small molecules seems considerably more jerky on
Mac OS
X in Firefox 1.5.
Oddly enough everything seems fine with Safari or Opera on OS
X.
The
standalone application seems fine as well. Anybody else notice
this?>
