not a bug, but also not intuitive and probably not well described in the 
documentation.

LcaoCartoons are different from other isosurfaces in that they have 
multiple component parts at a given atom and generally one wants to set 
the color and translucency up front, before any are drawn, and then draw 
them. So the way it works is generally:

lcaocartoon translucent 0.6
lcaocartoon color red blue

select atomno=3
lcaocartoon "pz"
select atomno=5
lcaocartoon "sp3a"

etc. Or, you can put these together:

lcaocartoon (carbon) translucent 0.5 create "pz"

That is, you set everything up first, then do the "create" in this case.
