I installed Safari 3.0.1 for Windows (with QuickTime) from http://www.apple.com/safari. I installed and tested it in Windows XP SP2.
JAVA/JMOL: Attempting to verify your java installation (after clicking "Do I have java?") at java.com crashes Safari. Attempting to start FirstGlance in Jmol, or a Jmol-based tutorial (on DNA or hemoglobin, at http://www.umass.edu/molvis/bme3d) crashes Safari. I reported these to Apple with Safari's bug reporter. CHIME: Some (most?) Chime sites work. At http://molviz.org, most of the tutorials work. Exceptions are noted below. At "Molecular Vibrations: IR Spectrum", the IR spectrum fails to display. This spectral display is produced (when it works) by the Chime plugin. Although I got the main DNA page (from http://molviz.org) to display once, the "small and green" test link failed to change the large pink single atom in Chime. After the first attempt, repeated attempts to display the main page reproducibly crashed Safari. I reported the crashes to Apple. What is hilarious is to see Microsoft asking you to report Safari's crashes to them, in the automatic window that pops up when any application crashes in Windows XP. -Eric /* - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Eric Martz, Professor Emeritus, Dept Microbiology U Mass, Amherst -- http://www.umass.edu/molvis/martz Biochem 3D Education Resources http://MolviZ.org See 3D Molecules, Install Nothing! - http://firstglance.jmol.org Protein Explorer - 3D Visualization: http://proteinexplorer.org Workshops: http://workshops.proteinexplorer.org World Index of Molecular Visualization Resources: http://molvisindex.org ConSurf - Find Conserved Patches in Proteins: http://consurf.tau.ac.il Atlas of Macromolecules: http://atlas.proteinexplorer.org PDB Lite Macromolecule Finder: http://pdblite.org Molecular Visualization EMail List (molvis-list): http://bioinformatics.org/mailman/listinfo/molvis-list - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - */ ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by DB2 Express Download DB2 Express C - the FREE version of DB2 express and take control of your XML.
