I was just trying to update my entry EricMartz at the Jmol wiki
(http://wiki.jmol.org:81/index.php/Main_Page).

Apparently due to a few minutes of inactivity, I was auto-logged out,
which almost caused me to lose significant editing work. I recommend
that the auto-logout time be increased to 60 minutes!

Details:

I made some changes, previewed, them, and made some more changes
(without saving the changes).

Then I took roughly 10 minutes to find some information I needed in
another tab in the same browser. When I returned to the editing tab,
and tried to save my changes, I was told that I needed to login.
However, when I backed up to the page containing my changes, I was
shown as logged in at the top. More importantly, when I opened a new
tab and went to the main page of the wiki, it also showed that I was logged in.

I then tried logging out and back in within the second tab. Upon
returning to the original tab containing my unsaved changes, and
attempting to save them, I got this message:

Sorry! We could not process your edit due to a loss of session data.
Please try again. If it still doesn't work, try logging out and
logging back in.

Well, luckily, my changes were still in the first tab in the form
box. So I copied the entire page, and then did a new login at this
page, started a new editing session, copied the entire edited page
into the form box, and finally managed to save it! Whew!

"save early and often" comes to mind. Especially, save before you go
elsewhere to do some research even though you haven't finished your edit!
