Well, now having worked with this more, I find that when the group is  
in spacefill, the label is visible in front of it - the spacefill  
projects "out of the screen" in front of the ribbon, and the label is  
fully visible on top of the spacefilled atoms. But when it is  
returned to a ribbon only, then the label is engulfed by the ribbon,  
even though the ribbon is "behind" where the spacefilled atoms were.  
This makes it very difficult to label ribbon structures clearly. Any  
possibility of changing this behavior?
