Is it possible this has something to do with the java security engine? I ran into a problem (unsolvable) for page testing on local machines as part of the export to web dialog. On MacOS using FireFox, there are some times that full paths are passed to the applet rather than relative paths. This causes the Java.security functions to deny file access.
