Sure; you might consider the sort of thing we do with Jmol -- we use a
"monster script' that runs through thousands of known scripts (a collection
from the NEW pages). Not perfect; as you know, we still miss some
subtleties, but it performs amazingly well and finds many of our mistakes in
just the first "check script" pass. You might consider that. You could even
create PNG files and then compare them for identity.

Since we are not fixing the bugs in 11.8, that bug list is just growing.
