There was an actively used zero-day exploit in Java 7 that made Apple and
Mozilla to black-list the Java 1.7.0_10 plugin:

However today Oracle has released an update fixing that issue:

Luckily with JSmol there's now an alternative to the Jmol Applet.
I expect that this wasn't the last 0-day exploit for Java this year and
people surfing with an enabled Java-plugin are increasingly putting them
self at risk.
