OK. I know how to temporarily fix it, but do now how how long it will last.
The file you need to look at is:
/System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Resources/XProtect.meta.p
list
In that file, you will find the following line:
<string>1.7.11.22</string>
If you change 22 to 20, java works again. 22 is the java 1.7.11 version number
required to over ride the java prohibition. It has not yet been released.
Apparently 21b was released this morning which I suspect is a beta release.
