I can add something to that - local file access with HTML5 will work with
Firefox and Opera, could not work with some versions of Chrome, which has a
weird security policy, if the html file is local itself. In the latter
case, it can be fixed by running Chrome from command line with the option
--allow-file-access-from-files.
