I have done some testing here and I see quite different behavior with
Chrome:

action when I pull finger toward myself.

"+" means what I expect (molecule becomes bigger)

also in HTML5: (event.detail event.wheelDelta buttonModifiers)

Chrome / PC: JAVA + HTML5 - (0 -120 16)
Chrome / Mac: JAVA n/a HTML5 + (0 120 16)

FF/PC JAVA + HTML5 + (3 undefined 0)
FF/Mac JAVA - HTML5 - (-2 undefined 0)

Safari/Mac JAVA + HTML5 +
Opera/PC JAVA + HTML5 - (0 -120 16)

I will switch the action of event.wheelDelta, and that will fix
Chrome/PC/HTML5 and Opera/PC/HTML5. I think there's no hope for FF/Mac.

If nature does not answer first what we want,
it is better to take what answer we get.
