I see the same thing. Bob, you're getting a 400 error because of an inadvertent 
space in your URL:

http://pubchem.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/rest/pug/compound 
/name/acetone/SDF?record_type=3d

Note the space after the word "compound" in your URL above.
