I've taken the Local Storage Jmol notebook idea to the next level.
Specifically, I embedded the Virtual Model Kit in a Rich Text notes page
itself.
chemagic.com/notebook.htm
This notes page is written using HTML5 editable div objects with HTML5
Rich Text formatting. Consequently, the notes page has the following
capability:
1) Bold, Italic, Normal Text
2) Image insertion
3) P, H1, H2, H3 Styles
4) Lists - ordered or numbered
5) WYSIWYG or source HTML editing of notes.
6) A special slick way to make a chemical name in the notes
automatically load that model in the embedded VMK. This works well on my
laptop. While it works on my iPad, the iPad gets confused and also
brings up the keyboard. There has to be a way around this. I should
mention that all cross domain communication between Notes and iFrame
embedded Jmol is legal. This should work cross domain and desk-top
double click (see caveat note below).
You can edit in HTML view if you want, but the notebook can be used to
format without HTML editing. If the above page does not load with a
default instruction page, click the Erase Local Storage button and
reload the page.
Caveat Note:
Finally, thinking about this notebook concept is what made me focus on
partial local file utility (previous emails): The ability to run a page
by double click while still being connected to the Internet. Basically,
I'd like full functionality, but if Internet connectivity is lost, I
still wanted note taking functionality. This is possible with this embed
concept.
Any suggestions will be welcomed...
