Name: Test Engineer with MPEG2, DATA COMMUNICATIONS, VIDEO, SETTOP BOX. Location: United States - Sequence Drive, California Duration: 1 year Description: *** Main Responsibilities: Testing additional table Settop boxes. 90% of the position is testing Firmware and stress testing. Responsible for running automated scripts. Department Description - Functional Design Verification and Test Department for the Consumer Digital Cable Settop Product Line Scope - Design Verification and Test of Digital Cable Settop Box. . Perform system and unit level testing of consumer cable and Telco settop box. Setup and debug complex test systems. . Coordinate, develop and implement test plans/procedures to verify functional and performance requirements . Work with developers with automating test procedures to reduce release cycle overhead . Report bugs found and work with developers for resolution. Specific Knowledge - Experience with test methodology Understand principles of data communications, video, CATV Knowledge of analog and digital audio and video test measurements. Knowledge of MPEG2, DOCSIS, OCAP, Aloha standards. Knowledge in IP networking principles such as DNS, DHCP, SNMP, Routing, TCP/IP and Ethernet Understanding of cable transmission standards and testing. Knowledge of UNIX and Windows based operating systems. Knowledge of Microsoft tools (ie. Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, etc.). Skills in trouble-shooting and Test Equipment Knowledge of programming and script writing a plus Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work under minimum supervision. Position Requirements: Experience Level - 4 - 6 Years Experience with software/application testing experience. Some software/application development experience helpful. Working knowledge of relational database (Oracle and SQL Server). Working knowledge of test strategies and processes. Ability to manage test defects and manage them to closure. Be able to generate data sets to test applications. Ability to create and manage test cases that fully test the requirements as well as the functionality of the applications. Create automated test scripts using QTP and other related off the shelf tools. Ability to write test cases from the requirements, design documents, and codes. Develop Test Plans for Automated parametric measurements of RF performance characteristics on RF Transmitters/Modulators. Design, implement and operate Script based test routines utilizing standard and custom SW to control standard RF lab equipment (GPIB or similar interfaces). Review, organize and analyze test results and reports from these tests. Develop and maintain modifications to existing test fixtures. Monitor on going tests on Production Test Stations. Operate and maintain DVT Test Stations.
