On the development side, the incumbent is responsible for building the data architecture that assimilates geospatial data from diverse sources into the Oracle and ESRI spatial databases. This individual will maintain and extend the ETL architecture based on ESRI's SDE utilities, Oracle's procedural language (PL/SQL) and ODBC. This responsibility requires a strong command of ESRI architecture, Oracle's programming language, SQL and Windows scripting language (VBScript). On the operations side DC GIS supports agencies across the government and seeks 99.8+% uptime with 0% loss of data from our database systems. Tasks will include backup/recovery, pro-active monitoring, performance management, database instantiation and optimization of the database platform/storage (essential duties). Experience with Oracle Real Application Clusters on the Windows platform is required. Oracle certification is mandatory. This role also requires an understanding of project management, including project life cycles and software development practices. A firm grasp of technical architecture is also needed for interfacing with the development and operations groups--in all life cycle phases.
