Senior level resource that has lead experience. Also, the resource must have migration experience from SQL Server 6.5 (or even 7.0) to SQL Server 2005. Per Devee, in order to migrate from 6.5 to 2005, you must to 2000 first then to 2005. In regards to your search, please focus on candidates who have extensive SQL Server migration experience from 6.5/7 to 2005 and lead experience. Length of Position: March 2009 (minimum) Start Date: ASAP Required Skill Set: • 3+ years DBA experience in Microsoft SQL Server 6.5, 2000 and 2005. This includes migrating tables/data across these different versions of SQL Server and determining the impacts to current applications with the upgrade in SQL Server versions. • 3+ years experience with Microsoft Windows environments. • Database Backup and Recovery methodologies for MS-SQL Server 2000 and above. • Database maintenance • Database monitoring • Database tuning • Interpersonal and communication skills • Experience in application DBA role • Experience in server DBA role • Very Detail oriented • Ability to clearly communicate both written and orally in the English language. Flexible Work Schedule The DBA will provide the required services during the work schedules requested by the client. This SQL Migration project will require off hours and weekend work. The cut-over migration to Production environment will be conducted on a weekend. Microsoft SQL Server Upgrades/Migrations The DBA resource will be asked to perform Microsoft SQL Server Upgrades/Migrations. The DBA must be familiar with the pitfalls that are experienced with a typical migration from 6.5 SQL version to 2000 SQL version and ultimately through 2005 SQL Enterprise version. Application Support The DBA resource could be required to perform application support tasks. An example of this type of task would be migrating ddl from development, test, and production. Desired Skill Set: SQL Server 6.5 Edition SQL Server 2000 Developer Edition with SP4. Windows 2000 Server with SP4. SQL Server 2005 for x64 platform Enterprise Editions with SP3. Windows Server 2008 for x64 platform Enterprise Edition. VB 6 with SP6 Office 2003 SP3 Windows XP SP3 SQL Server 2008 Knowledge.
