Position: Business Analyst with exp in health insurance industry & BCBS plans Location: Owings Mills, MD Duration: 6months Serves as a liaison between the internal/external business community and the IT organization in order to define business, user and technical requirements that can be used to build a solution. Translates business requirements into functional specifications for the IT organization, manages changes to such specifications, and educates the IT organization on the direction of the business. Gathers information about the organization's work processes and information flows. Documents existing process in technical model format in order to evaluate and define new IT solutions and implementation processes. Possesses an understanding of technological trends and uses this knowledge to bring solutions to business groups supported to enhance the enterprise's competitive edge. Has basic knowledge in functions they support. Has knowledge and background of other technologies and tools. Has basic understanding of business, market and industry issues facing a specific business unit or function. Supports several simple to moderately complex business processes. Is responsible for validating the solution against the requirements. . Advanced understanding of business processes related to systems supported. Recognized as true systems subject matter expert ( e.g., Pega, Facets, etc. ) . Experience with complex systems projects. Demonstrated ability to lead business JAD sessions with limited prior system/business knowledge of affected system. . Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills . Extensive PC skills including Microsoft office software such as Word, Power Point, MS Project, and Excel. . Strong MS Visio or other process / flow charting tool skills . Strong understanding of system project life cycle methodologies (e.g., Traditional/Waterfall vs Iterative) and software process improvement (SPI) best practices. . Experience with the health insurance industry, especially with BCBS plans. . Experience with CareFirst business analysis and requirements (business, user, and technical - functional/non-functional) development and management) processes and tools. . Experience with software testing and/or defect tracking and testing tools. . Experience with relational databases, to include development of queries and reports. The candidate should be able to show examples of past work in requirements definition. The candidate should be able to describe requirements management and requirements traceability as well as providing evidence of experience in requirements management and requirements traceability.
