WEB DESIGNER/DEVELOPER
The New York Post Online Edition seeks a web designer/developer to join
our day staff in the Midtown New York City offices. We are looking for a
responsible, imaginative, and dedicated individual to work in a
high-traffic, fast-paced online environment.
Job specifications:
* This is a permanent, full-time, on-site position. Please no freelance
inquires and no placement services!
* This position requires candidate to have excellent writing and
communication skills.
* Candidate must be able to work on several projects at a time.
* Candidate must be able to work independently and meet aggressive
deadlines.
* This position reports to the Director of Online Production.
* Each candidate will be required to demonstrate mastery of the skills
listed below during the interview process.
* Salary negotiable.
Skill set includes:
* 4+ years experience with HTML, building/designing/editing webpages
* 2+ years experience with Macromedia Flash
* 2+ years experience with CSS
* 2+ years experience Adobe Photoshop, with strong image editing and
manipulation skills
* 2+ years experience with PHP including database programming and design
* Experience with MySQL or PostgreSQL a strong plus
* Familiarity with Javascript, AJAX a strong plus
Responsibilities:
* Work with a team of programmers and designers to create and maintain
dynamic, design-driven features of nypost.com
* Work with our dedicated online editorial group to contribute
programming and design skills to online special section initiatives
* Work closely with other online divisions such as online ad sales and
online classifieds to support their initiatives under the direction of
the Director
* Maintain and enhance existing systems on the website such as programs
driving online contests and sweepstakes, production of photo grids,
polls, rss feeds, and consumer-facing systems
