The PHP Application Developer uses PHP to enhance and maintain web applications supporting high volume magazine websites. Responsibilities * Use PHP to enhance and maintain web applications supporting high volume magazine websites. * Create high-performance PHP code by working closely with Business Analysts and Technical Architects to develop detailed implementation designs. * Provide documentation, follow process and code standards, provide estimates, and meet deadlines. * Develop and enhance internal tools for editorial, production, and business groups. * Work with project managers and business groups to analyze and report on application performance. * Test applications for progress and quality. Required Qualifications * Strong communication skills * Ability to perform effectively in a demanding environment * Proven ability to work in a team * Bachelors or Masters Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent software development experience * PHP experience (3-5 years minimum) * SQL-based relational database experience * Expertise with HTML, XML, JavaScript web page user interface work * Web development experience in dynamic database-driven applications * Familiarity with the Unix Operating System Desired Qualifications * Experience with client side rich applications using AJAX or Flash would be a big plus * Java and J2EE experience. * Experience with Perl, Python, or Ruby * Publishing experience a plus.
