Job Responsibilities
We are looking for a Web Developer to support the U.S. Merchant Marine
Academy at Kings Point, NY.
The purpose of this position is to create and renew content and
navigation patterns quarterly for the following web sites: the Academy's
general web site, campus intranet web site, library web site, general/campus
athletics web site, general/campus waterfront activities web site, and other
portal web sites.
The candidate will create and maintain web site graphics, narrative
content, site and page structure reflecting Web 2.0 standards for XHTML,
Javascript, and cascading style sheet (CSS). All web sites shall comply with
federal accessibility standards, transmit and receive personal identification
information using SSL, and support the most recent versions of web browsers
from Microsoft, Firefox, Apple, and Opera. Where possible, web pages shall
display and properly operate on personal computers and cellular phones equipped
with web browsers.
Skills Required
The successful candidate will combine strong hands-on development in
XHTML, JavaScript, CORE Java, and SQL.
. 3+ years of designing and implementing Web pages and web-based
applications
. Strong XHTML, DOM, JavaScript and AJAX experience
. Experience with Apache Tomcat
. Strong Java JDBC SQL programming experience
. User Interface design experience is a plus
. Demonstrated ability to work in a small group setting to rapidly
develop new products
. Demonstrated ability to quickly and accurately translate user
requirements from traders into technical deliverables with minimal oversight
from product managers and limited documentation of business requirements and
functional specifications
. Internet application development: firewalls, proxies and security
. Strong verbal and written communication skills
. Excellent problem solving skills
. Team player; willing and able to drive collaborative efforts across the
organization to improve product quality, reduce expense, and increase
productivity
TEKsystems is looking for a website administrator for the USMMA located
in Kings Point.
The purpose of this position is to manage all aspects of web site
technical administration; serve as a the primary technical liaison between the
Information Systems and Web Clusters; evaluate, install, and test hardware and
software; provide technical support and training to the Web Cluster staff; and
insure compliance with network, procedures, and standards.
The successful candidate will combine strong hands-on development in
XHTML, JavaScript, CORE Java, and SQL. They will be supporting the external
website for the United States Merchant Marine Academy. 30-40 percent will be
design, implement and testing while 60-70 percent will be Maintenance.
This person will be dedicated to the external website and have sole
responsibility of the USMMA external website.
