Back-End Developer - NYC - 3-4 month contract
Responsibilities * Work with business to help determined project requirements and time estimates * Analyze, design, and develop code for all application layers * Troubleshooting, debugging, and documenting your work and existing/legacy system * We are primarily a LAMP-stack environment (with the P being PHP, and specifically CakePHP), but we also have some fairly substantial work with other technologies: Java, Objective C, a little bit of .Net, etc. Requirements * Minimum of 5 years as a software engineer. Your experience can be in any programming language (Java, PHP, Python, C#, etc), as long as you know, understand, and work with sound Object-Oriented programming principals and concepts * Knowledge of common design patterns. * Competence with front-end technologies: HTML, proper use of CSS, AJAX techniques, JavaScript * Experience with source code and version control management systems * Experience with unit testing * Experience in database design and implementation. You should understand why one particular database schema is badly designed and another well designed. * Excellent communications skills (both written and verbal), interpersonal, and presentation skills. * Strong attention to detail; passion for technology, challenging environments and excellence * Comfortable working across different technology platforms. You can (and probably should) have technology preferences and areas of expertise, but you should generally be technology agnostic.
