Our IT Services team is looking for a Web Developer to design and develop client-facing applications and products. The developer will be joining a small, but growing technical team who will be embarking on an ambitious platform rebuild. You will have the opportunity to contribute and influence major strategic objectives including the implementation of a new CMS and the development of a mobile and tablet oriented instance of the business. The developer will create technical specifications based on business objectives; create stable, scalable code within a CMS framework; document his/her work; and be good at looking towards the larger picture of the business' goals to ensure reusable development efforts. You should be proficient in several languages with some level of expertise in at least one. Responsibilities: * LAMP within a CMS framework (45%) * Maintenance of existing products (30%) * Documentation of development efforts (5%) * Writing technical requirements (10%) * QA of offshore team development efforts (10%) Professional Requirements: * Minimum 4 years overall development experience in web development, both front and back end. * Experience with user-based permission systems and 3rd party data systems. * Knowledge and experience working in an agile development environment. * Good analytical skills with a proven track record of successful business application development experience. * Ability to manage own time in a productive manner with limited supervision. * Experience with high-traffic websites with 24/7 uptime requirements. * Bachelor's degree (preferably in Computer Science or MIS/CIS) and/or relevant IT experience. * Previous experience working in an on-line media company preferred. Technical Requirements: * 3 years' experience developing in a LAMP environment, focused on PHP4/PHP5 using OOP and MySQL5 * 2+ years of experience with standards compliant XHTML, CSS and jQuery. (HTML5 experience is a plus) * 1+ years of developing personalized products based on user preferences and permissions. * Deep API Integration experience with both internal systems and 3rd parties.
