PHP Application Developer – Foothold Technology

We are Foothold Technology (www.footholdtechnology.com) and we make software
that helps social service and nonprofit agencies deliver client services more
effectively and more efficiently. Numerous agencies across the country use our
software to improve the lives of their clients. In turn, those agencies affect
many clients. We use ‘cloud’ architecture to deliver our software to our
clients. We built it using Apache, LINUX, PHP and Postgres. We’re looking for
a highly qualified PHP Application Developer who knows these technologies AND
who passionately believes in building better software to help those who help
others.
This new permanent position will report to the Director of Application
Development and will be located at our corporate headquarters in downtown New
York City. Our new PHP Application Developer must be able to work with our
current software application development and also be able to help the team move
forward with new application development in ZEND Framework.
(We are unable to work with candidates having or needing visa work
authorization, at this time.)
· 5+ years of solid experience utilizing PHP5, MVC in an LAMP
environment developing applications.
· Thorough understanding of OOP concepts and principles a must.
· Extensive experience in relational database programming, data
modeling, including writing efficient and optimized database queries in
complex, distributed databases. (PostgreSQLPL/SQL experience preferred.)
· Significant experience developing applications using an MVC
framework (Zend Framework applications preferred)
· Strong working knowledge of HTML, CSS, AJAX and JavaScript libraries
(dojo,jquery)
· Experience with Version Control Systems (CVS,SVN etc.)
· Willingness to work with existing code paradigms and structures in a
process of re-engineering and improvement to adjust to changing customer needs.
· Work well within a team through collaboration, communication and
on-time delivery of assignments.
· Positive, enthusiastic, energetic, detail oriented, and
self-motivated with the ability to learn quickly and take ownership of tasks,
process, and products.
· Excellent communication (written and verbal), time management,
troubleshooting, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
· Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into system
design and to develop solutions based on organizational and users’ needs,
strategies, and goals, including recommending improvements based on researching
and evaluating web software.
Nice to have skills:
· Prior Agile/Scrum development experience, a passion for code quality.
· Working knowledge of MongoDB
· Zend PHP5 and/or Zend Framework Certification
