Technical Lead $120,000 base
Client is an open source products and services company building collaboration centric application for our clients. Our primary focus is building custom Collaborative Dashboards, Business-Social Media and Mobile applications on cloud platforms. Our clients range from major firms like IBM, top Investment firms to early stage startups. Most of our client engagements are based on either Java or Django/Python technology. Our team has a strong passion for cutting edge technologies. At our core, we are a technology company. We have been at the forefront of the recent technology shifts in the last decade - open source, web 2.0, and cloud computing. We've been leveraging web 2.0 technologies and cloud computing since its early days. As mobile technologies reaches maturity, ubiquitous access is becoming more of a reality and is increasingly becoming part of our solution set. Technical Leads are a key leader member of the project team. This person will be responsible for overall system solution including working with developers in designing parts of the system, leading investigation of new technologies in the solution design and mentoring developers both on- and off-shore. Their responsibilities differ depending on the phase of the engagement. Responsibilities: * Work with the project manager to create estimates and sprint plans * Provide insight into complexity of business features, user interface design and create solutions that reduce technical complexity while maximizing business and user benefits * Guide and lead technologists to create the system and detailed technical design * Investigate new technologies and guide developers to assist in investigation * Assure team uses best practices in design and implementation * Review solutions by senior developers and guide them toward an elegant implementation * Clearly communicate designs and technical requirements with team members Qualifications: * 7+ years' experience leading web application development efforts using Java and RIA technologies * Hands-on experience with Hibernate and Spring * Strong Object Oriented Design and experience developing high-performance systems and web sites (caching, performance, messaging, serialization, etc.) * Experience with AJAX development (YUI, JQuery, Dojo, etc.) * Working knowledge of Django/Python is a strong plus. * Knowledge of RDBMS database design and performing data extractions, conversions and manipulations. Worked with at least one of the following: Oracle, Sybase, MySQL or PostgreSQL * Experience working in a fast changing environment with tight deadlines * Ability to pick up new technologies to use on client projects Most of their clients/projects are based in New York and New Jersey.
