I'm not sure if its a good idea to add a general method which alters the
localized pattern. When I had to deal with this case, I called
getPatternForStyle and then modified the pattern to ensure the year part
had four characters. This method was dropped from the 1.0 release, but
it should be back in the 1.3 release.
