The beta clause is just a standard disclaimer. It works AFAIK. The hibernate project is 'contributed', which means that it is not part of the Joda-Time core. A couple of people have mentioned adding Local* support, but it hasn't happened yet. Hibernate doesn't scratch my personal 'itch' so I haven't pursued it.
Anyone who wants to is welcome to ask for commit rights to complete the hibernate project though....
